Does wax block UV? Today we re-visit my UV testing methods and see if a new approach to testing tells us more about how waxes block UV light. In our new test I pit Chemical Guys Jet Seal against our new testing gear. I utilize a BPI Perfect Vision UV/Photometer III and a Linshang LS162 Transmission Meter to see how much protection our tested wax provides. I then tested all the products from my prior videos. Waxing my car to protect paint from UV damage has been something I've done unquestioningly. I always believed coatings and sealants provided excellent UV protection and kept my paint from fading over the years from ultraviolet radiation. I have put together a test using a UVA and UVB light with cyanotype paper. I will perform this test as part of my future wax testing videos to determine just how much UV protection a particular wax provides. I also tested a spray on SPF 70 sunscreen and clear coat paint to see how they compared to waxes, ceramic coatings, and sealants.
